The magic behind the Harry Potter films

A few weeks ago, on a cold Friday morning, I clutched my soya cappuccino and ushered my boyfriend into a train that would take us to Watford. After a quick breakfast in a dimly lit pub we enthusiastically boarded a Warner Bros. Studio Tour bus. We both love the Harry Potter films and have made a habit of watching them all, marathon style, every December around Christmas.

We’ve gotten to a point where we now know so many lines by heart that we’re comfortable using them in conversations about anything except the movies, like when we’re in the supermarket buying groceries. Even so, we were not at all prepared for the level of awesomeness we got to experience. I mean, of course we could’ve googled it, but why ruin the surprise, right?

The tour took us around 3 and a half hours done at a relatively speedy pace with minor exceptions; we actually had to be dragged away from Diagon Alley. Not wanting to spoil the experience for those of you planing to visit the studios (that if you don’t count the photos as too much of a show and tell situation), I will share with you the one thing that completely knocked my socks off. Finding out just how many of the elements used in the films were actually built from scratch and not just computer generated images has made me appreciate even more the work and creativity behind this so loved series.

We finished off the tour with a couple of butter beers which much to our horror were the sweetest, most disgusting thing we ever tasted. We joked about being total muggles and went home to watch the films yet another time.

Love,
Denisia
