3 spring/summer trends you’ll love

If this long weekend proved us anything is that the weather gets friendlier by the day and we’re right to start dreaming about sandals, flowy fabrics and SPF everything. The bravest of us have given up boots and thighs at the first rays of sunshine while others are still pouring over glossy magazine pages while mentally adding lighter layers to an ever-growing wish list.

But before clicking the ‘add to basket’ button on anything spring/summer-ish take a step back (from the computer) and have a look at the biggest trends that will conquer the streets this season.

1. Bold stripes –  I still remember the feeling I had when I first saw Jasper Conran’s SS16 collection at Brewer Street car park last september. Bold stripes on the most delicate of fabrics turned into sophisticated maxi dresses and chic separates filled with warmer days promises. Stripes have a youthful, fresh vibe about them which makes them perfect for spring.

2. Metallic everything – Metallics and high shine fabrics have found a way to squeeze themselves into this season’s collections with designers reinventing them in show stopping layers sunshine filled days. One of the designers embracing this trend is Calvin Klein who’s runway collection was filled with metallic silver outfits, setting the ground for one of the most popular looks for summer.

3. Mega ruffles - If for some reason you were holding back from getting your ruffles out to play, find out that designers have given us their blessing; not only that, but they want us to go the extra mile and reach for the ones that will raise an eyebrow from even the most calculated of poker faces. There are many ways to wear ruffles, so if your workplace isn’t quite keen on walking cupcakes, don’t fret. Go for subtle, delicate ruffles during office hours and step into a bolder version as soon as the clock ticks cocktail hour.
